Jennifer Goldman DDS and Amy Thu Tran DDS present Jingle Arrgh the Way! a Christmas Pirate Adventure

November 29, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Author Melinda Long first delighted readers with her book, “How I Became a Pirate” back in 2008.  The book was adapted to the stage by Mark Friedman and Janet Yates Vogt and told the story of young Jeremy Jacob going on a pirate adventure with Captain Braid Beard and his motley crew. The show captured the imagination of many theatres across the country and abroad, including the Woodland Opera House in 2016.

Over the years many have asked if the pirates might sail again in another adventure. Well, the pirate crew is back and trying to solve a mysterious message left in the crow’s nest of their ship. The gang sails back to North Beach to enlist the help of young Jeremy Jacob as he has a “Very Strong Wit”. In order to solve the riddle, they set their compass toward the North Pole.  Along the way the crew learns to play basketball, make “Zee Perfect Christmas Cookie”, and dodge icebergs and a Polar Bear! The crew is comprised of a newcomer to the Opera House, Travis Lindquist, along with Marcia Gollober.  Three pirates from the first show (Matt Franck, Steve Cairns, and Terry O’Flaherty) are returning to sail the seas again.  Kate Loscutoff plays Jeremy Jacob with Ken Watkins rounding out the cast as Santa Claus. The show is directed and choreographed by Eva Sarry. Sarry is thrilled to be at the helm again and says, “I had so much fun directing the first pirate show, that I couldn’t imagine missing out on another one. The cast and I laugh at every rehearsal; what a blast!” James Glica-Hernandez provides vocal direction with costume design by Denise Miles. Set design is created by Mark Deamer with light design by Nikki Pendley. Sound design is by Kevin Wenger and Lisa Bruni is Stage Manager.
