Author Melinda Long first delighted readers with her book, “How I Became a Pirate” back in 2008. The book was adapted to the stage by Mark Friedman and Janet Yates Vogt and told the story of young Jeremy Jacob going on a pirate adventure with Captain Braid Beard and his motley crew. The show captured the imagination of many theatres across the country and abroad, including the Woodland Opera House in 2016.
Over the years many have asked if the pirates might sail again in another adventure. Well, the pirate crew is back and trying to solve a mysterious message left in the crow’s nest of their ship. The gang sails back to North Beach to enlist the help of young Jeremy Jacob as he has a “Very Strong Wit”. In order to solve the riddle, they set their compass toward the North Pole. Along the way the crew learns to play basketball, play a pirate board game, make “zee perfect Christmas Cookie”, and dodge icebergs and a Polar Bear!
